Hosting a Human Library event includes steep learning curves and a lot of unknowns. Arlington Public Library and Fairfax County Public librarians will share effective strategies and insights for hosting a Human Library event including tips for remaining flexible, expecting the unexpected, and avoiding common missteps.
Small libraries with limited resources can find creative solutions to outdated and/or offensive terminology in records. In this presentation, we will discuss how both an academic library and a public library approached inclusivity in their collections. Topics covered: cataloging, soliciting buy-in, collaborating with other libraries, and collection maintenance.
